The SIAF "People's Choice Awards" were created so software users
would have the opportunity to vote for their favorite software programs.
The voting for these awards is hosted each year by some of the largest
sites on the Internet. In past years, this has included popular sites
like CNET, Simtel, Tucows, PC World, and others. Software authors are
also allowed to point to the People's Choice Award voting site and encourage their users to vote!
Software authors are also encouraged to direct users to the People's
Choice Award voting site and encourage their users to vote! Voting
occurs from May 1st through May 31st each year. In contrast to the
Shareware Industry Awards, where a program can only win more than once
if it has undergone an update, a product may win the People's Choice
Award multiple times regardless of updates.
A secure voting site was created to host the People's Choice Awards.
When all voting has been completed, the People's Choice Awards winners
are determined in the same manner as the Shareware Industry Awards
(SIA). The People's Choice Awards winners are announced during the
Shareware Industry Awards banquet, which is held each year at the annual
Software Industry Conference (SIC).
If you have more questions about the SIAF, the Shareware Industry
Awards, or any aspect of the Shareware Industry Conference, please
contact Michael E. Callahan,(EMAIL LINK) SIAF Chairman.
